The 80th Anniversary Restoration Project
We the Living premiered in 1942 and 2022 marked the 80th anniversary of this extraordinary film!

In celebration, Duncan Scott productions produced a new edition of the film that is digitally restored and rejuvenated--
and in high-definition for the first time.
Beginning in 2023, We the Living: The 80th Anniversary Restoration will be available in the USA and internationally. It will be shown as video-on-demand, on Blu-ray DVD, at special events, and in select film festivals and art-house movie theaters.

Our goal is to make it possible for audiences around the world to discover this inspiring movie and the fundamental values it proclaims so powerfully.
Preparing for this new release has been a massive undertaking. It began when we had a high-definition digital scan made using the master 35mm negatives that had been recovered in Italy in 1968 by Ayn Rand’s associates, Henry and Erika Holzer. This greatly improved the clarity of the film, making it far sharper and more detailed than previous versions.
Then, using state-of-the-art digital software technology, we cleaned up and repaired the entire film, frame by frame, removing scratches, dirt, and other flaws that are common in old movies. Improvements to exposure and contrast were also made, scene by scene. The result is stunning.

A Personal Note From the Restoration Producer

We pulled out all the stops to create a beautiful restoration of We the Living. We’ve financed the restoration work ourselves and invested hundreds of hours of time and effort.

But for We the Living: The 80th Anniversary Restoration to become a must-see for movie lovers around the world, it requires significant distribution and exhibition costs, plus a first rate promotional campaign. All that is expensive, but crucial.

Will you consider supporting this effort with a contribution?

Our goal is to raise at least $127,000. Donations large and small are welcome and will be used exclusively to support the We the Living Restoration Project.
